phylogenetic tree of peroxisomal ABC proteins

phylogenetic tree of peroxisomal ABC proteins

Evolutionary relationships among human ALDP and its 14 closest homologues. For more details please see Smith et al., (1999). Hs, Homo sapiens; Rn, Rattus norvegicus; Mm, Mus musculus; Ce, Caenorhaditis elegans and Sc, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The phylogenetic tree reveals three main clades (groupings of proteins sharing a common inferred evolutionary origin). The first clade contains the ALDP and ALDRP proteins. The second clade consists of the PMP70 and yeast PXA2 proteins. The third clade contains human PMP69 (P70R) and two related C. elegans proteins. S. cerevisiae PXA1 falls in between the PMP69 and the ALDP/ALDRP clade.
